APPIS – Methodology for the Business Process Analysis

The APPIS methodology – analysis of business processes oriented on IT system requirements definition – is based on the object methodology and process modelling theory. The output comprises of simple and clear management charts depicting the sequential run of individual processes and their mutual relations.

Process modelling

In order to compile a useful IT system it is vital to understand the processes at the client – i.e. the objective is to compile the progress models of individual processes. As there are usually many processes in a business, and sometimes it may be difficult to determine their beginning and end, it may be useful to compile superior, so called order models which model the vision of a particular organisational unit, its breakdown by responsibilities, and matching the responsibilities with different processes.

An order model is a process model of the entire corporation which denotes groups of processes and their relation to the business objective and to responsibilities that need to be ascertained in order to achieve that objective. The corporate process model serves as a starting image, a sort of a catalogue of processes from which one can proceed to flowcharts of individual processes.

Then flowcharts are modelled, while a conceptual model is also compiled at the same time.

The second step in the APPIS is represented by defining scenarios of IT system usage for the support of particular process steps. The APPIS concludes by the creation and approval of a catalogue of scenarios.

The system includes the following sections: sales (contract management, billing, distribution, claims), purchase (order management, RFQs), logistics (warehouse management, transport ma nagement), production (technology management), marketing (CRM), accounting (account management), administration.

The format of the original, intuitive and simple environment offers a professional, functionally sophisticated and variable program with universal usability and at excellent value for money that are ideal for companies of all sizes.
